A 40-acre Texas ranch, featuring a newly renovated main house, an entertainment observation tower, a windmill, and a rare beach-entry swimming pool, is now on the market for $5.45 million. Located in New Braunfels, the Circle S Ranch is being sold by Rocky and Delight Renken, who purchased the property in 1999.
The Renkens, passionate about creating a ranch that would look as though it had been passed down through generations, embarked on extensive renovations to the property. They added an antique log cabin from Pennsylvania, which now serves as the primary suite, a stone observation tower, and a windmill, among other features.
Originally 175 acres, the ranch dates back to the early 1920s, when the main house was built. The Renkens acquired the final 40 acres from the Stiegel family, who had named the property Circle S. Rocky Renken recalled the purchase as a spontaneous decision made after falling in love with the oak trees on the land. He later purchased the remaining 27 acres to expand the ranch.
The property, which sits between San Antonio and Austin, is known for its prime location and easy access to local amenities, just five minutes away from New Braunfels. The 2,700-square-foot main house, constructed from stone sourced from the property, offers stunning views from every room. The outdoor space includes shaded lounge areas, a barbeque center, a rock-wall garden, and, of course, the pool.
In addition to the main house, there is a guest cabin, a casita, and a barn/shop. The ranch is filled with wildlife, including whitetail deer and various bird species, and the Renkens have designed it as a peaceful retreat.
Rocky Renken, 60, and his wife, Delight, 58, are selling the ranch to be closer to the city, as they both feel it is time to move on. Although they had considered selling earlier after being approached by developers, Rocky is hopeful the next owner will appreciate the vision they've created and continue to enjoy the property.
“This has been a build of passion,” Rocky said, adding that the ranch provided a respite from his demanding job in the car business. Now, he hopes someone else will carry forward the legacy they've built.
